Alternate Copenhagen Venues

Provincial as State representatives speaking at the Copenhagen Towers on regional emissions reduction programs

With the Bella Center barred to all non-governmental agencies, those unable to enter the main COP15 venue are forced to spend time at other venues if they’re to continue with climate-related events in and around Copenhagen

Copenhagen Towers
Only one Metro stop away from the Bella Center, this is the venue likely second in importance only to the the UN meeting itself. The Copenhagen Towers is the home of a fully scheduled side event hosted by the International Emissions Trading Association. Those interested in the details of how the green economy will be developed should spend their time here.

The Klimaforum
Dubbed the “people’s forum” on climate change, the Klimaforum is located right by Copenhagen’s impressive Central railroad system. Home to a series of art and civil society events, the Klimaforum is the best place to interact with those experiencing climate change and the issues surrounding it.

Hopenhagen Stage
Located in city hall square, the Hopenhagem Stage is the main public venue, featuring concerts and speakers from around the world. The square is also home to a series of public displays on green technologies and other art pieces.

The Forum
Now that the Bella Center is barred to all NGOs, the Copenhagen Forum (which hosted a green business forum last weekend) will be home to NGOs over the last few days of the conference. In what must have been a massive midnight scramble of NGO organizers, the venue will be complete with live televised feeds from the official venue itself.

Luckily, all participants to COP15 were given free passes of Copenhagen’s fantastic network of subways, trains and buses for the duration of the conference, which should make getting to the alternate venues easy for all.
